The South Tama County eighth grade girls track team finished its season at the North Iowa Cedar League meet Friday.

At the meet, a 35-year old Middle School track and field record was broken, among many personal best performances. Top finishers for the lady Trojans included Tieranny Keahna, who finished first in the shot put (31 feet, 7 inches) and Madie Bacon, first in high jump (4-8).

Keahna's throw of 31-7 broke a school record that was set in 1977 by Sandy Hagge. The previous record was 31-6.

Other top performances from the Trojans included Belle Tyynismaa (third in long jump, 14-1), (first in 100-meter dash, 13.55) and (second in 400-meter dash, 64.53); 4x800-meter relay (Natalie Stadler, Madie Bacon, Socorro Mendoza and Tavian Lasley) - second, 11:35; shuttle hurdle relay (Jordan Knowles, Brooke Keller, Dani Stubbs and Kallie Hala) - second, 1:23.68; Tavian Lasley (third in 1,500-meter run, 5:43); and Jordan Knowles (100-meter hurdles, 19.93).
