Local bowlers bring home hardware

The Iowa USBC Youth State Tournament has finally come to a close. More than 350 teams, consisting of more than 1,500 bowlers along with more than 3,000 friends and family members passed through Tama/Toledo the past five weekends to participate at Venture Lanes.

During that time eight honor roll scores were shot and one state record was broken. On the local front, five teams Venture Lanes participated in the event and one of them brought home a state championship, while another one placed runner-up.

The Venture Lanes team were crowned state champions in Division 4. Participating on the team were Carter Kriegel (409 series) Richie Thomas (601 series, his first-ever 600 series), Kobe Van Dee (405 series) and Demitri Ferneau (416 series).

The local team, sponsored by Godfather's Pizza, placed second in Division 5. They finished runner-up by one pin. Team members were Jordan (JoJo) Van Dee (286 series), Kobe Van Dee (397 series), Callie Clark (231 series) and Jordan Van Dee (361 series).

The other local teams were as follows:

The Mixups, consisting of Sage Keahna (281 series), Jack Basart-Morse (448 series), Adam Morse (650 series) and Seth Keahna (379 series).

Turbett Concrete, consisting of Jennica Hickman (219 series), Amanda McClellan (365 series), Kaylynn Dunn (283) series and Jessica Timm (278 series).

Schmidt Racing (Placed 10th in Division 4) consisting of Justin Suchanek (614 series, his first ever 600 series), Drew Dostal (379 series), Bryce Dickenson (392 series) and Miranda Lacina (346 series).

Besides the team event, the local youth also participated in doubles and singles competition and did quite well.

The local results were:

Miranda Lacina placed 5th in Division 3 Girls Singles with a 696 handicapped series;

Jordan Van Dee placed 4th in Division 5 Girls Singles with a 702 handicapped series

Jessica Timm placed 5th in Division 5 Girls Singles with a 695 handicapped series;

Jordan (JoJo) Van Dee placed 10th in Division 6 Girls Singles with a 678 handicapped series;

Carter Kriegel placed 24th in Division 4 Boys Singles with a 683 handicapped series;

Adam Morse placed 24th in the Boys Scratch Singles Division with a 650 scratch series;

Jack Basart-Morse and Adam Morse placed 18th in Division 1 Doubles with a 1,258 handicapped series;

Jordan (JoJo) Van Dee and Kobe Van Dee placed 6th in Division 5 Doubles with a 1,376 handicapped series;

Jessica Timm and Jennica Hickman placed 21st in Division 6 Doubles with a 1,293 handicapped series;

Jordan Van Dee placed 5th in Division 5 Girls All Events with a 2,057 score;

Jordan (JoJo) Van Dee placed 3rd in Division 6 Girls All Events with a 2,123 score;

Kobe Van Dee placed 19th in Division 5 Boys All Events with a 1,978 score;

Adam Morse placed 6th in Scratch Division Boys All Events with a 1,971 score.

"We'd also like to thank all the wonderful people who spent the past five weekends volunteering their help in making this a successful tournament."
