Matt Zmolek has joined Independent Insurance Services in Toledo as an agent. Zmolek, a native of this area, has been in the insurance business in Des Moines for the past 10 years.
"We are very pleased to have Matt and his family moving back to the Tama-Toledo area," said Jake Jacobson, Independent Insurance Services owner-agent said.
Zmolek said he and his wife, Shayna, are "both from smaller towns" than Altoona where they currently live and "look forward to raising their family in a smaller community."
"We like the schools here and I have a lot of family in the area," Zmolek said.
The family plans to move here in a couple of months, he said. "We look forward to getting involved with the community and schools," he said.
"I view hiring Matt as another commitment to the community and the long-term stability of Independent Insurance Services," Jacobson said.
With 10 years experience in the industry, Zmolek will be a full-line agent with responsibilities primarily involving farm, auto, home and crop insurance.
At EMC Insurance in Des Moines, he served as a claims adjuster for four years, commercial underwriter for three years and as a marketing representative for three years.
In the last role he travelled the state of Iowa.
He is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).
He is a 1996 graduate of South Tama High School and is the son of Gary and Dora Zmolek. Matt grew up on a farm near Clutier. He is a graduate of Simpson College, Indianola.
Shayna Zmolek grew up in West Union and is a account manager for a Des Moines area based company. She will continue to work for the firm.
The couple has two children, Zophia, 6, and Stella, 1 1/2.
Matt joins Randy Van Dyk, owner-agent, and agents Brenda Adams, Tricia Smith, Tara L. Kaufman, Melissa McAdoo and Jacobson at Independent Insurance Services.
