New events and old favorites are all on tap for the 33rd Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival next weekend, May 18 and 19, in downtown Tama.
Merriam's Midway Carnival will be back and set up around the Tama?Civic Center for the 59th consecutive year, sponsored by the Tama Firefighters Association.
Events kick off on Friday night with an ice cream social and entertainment by the Tri-County Band, Harding Street Singers and South Tama High School Jazz Band at the Tama Fire Station The presentation of the Tama Citizen of the Year selected by nominations submitted to the Tama Fire Department will be at 7:30 p.m.

A street dance will be held on West 3rd street sponsored by the Town Pump on Friday night.
Saturday events get underway with a Tama Firefighters Breakfast beginning at 7 a.m. at the Fire Station. The 5K Run starts at 8 a.m. and the grand parade through downtown Tama is set for 10 a.m.
Entertainment continues through the day with a full slate of activities for young and old in front of the Tama Civic Center.
