The USA Folkstyle Wrestling Nationals were held at the UNI Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on March 30 April 1. The tournament is one of the largest events in the entire United States and offered seven divisions for kids and veteran wrestlers. Registration was capped at 2,800 wrestlers across the divisions with 37 states represented. The tournament features premier wrestlers that provide some of the best competition the United States has to offer.
Colton Vest brought home a bronze medal in the Novice 100 Division. Vest posted the following match results: 2-7, WBF 2:21, WBF 0:24, WBF 1:42, WBF 0:35, 6-0, 8-12.
Logan Arp finished in seventh place in the Bantam 55 Division with the following stats: 0-6, 4-2, 12-7, WBF 0:25, 0-4, 8-6 OT.
Bailey Chyma wrestled in the Schoolboy 144 Division and finished in eighth place. Chyma's individual match results were: WBF 3:41, LBF 0:53, WBF 1:23, 0-6, 0-9.
Also competing at Nationals were Tanner Probasco, Novice Division 80 (0-9, 4-5); Jaret Probasco, Schoolboy Division 98 (LBF 0:27, 2-8); Kade Steuhm, Cadet Division 126 (LBF 3:26, LBF 2:33); Levi Kaufman, Junior Division 152 (0-7, 3-4); Erik Lux, Junior Division 170 (WBF 3:49, LBF 3:24, 6-10).
On March 17, the Corn Cob Nationals Wrestling Tournament was held at the Jacobson Center on the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. The tournament was open to all wrestlers, regardless of age or state of residency.
The Trojan Warrior Elite Wrestling Club had four wrestlers participate in this competition. Colton Vest earned the golden corn cob award in the 100 pounts, 11-12 year old division with the following stats: WBF 1:52, 16-0, 6-5.
Tanner Probasco secured a second-place finish in the 80 lbs., 11-12 year old division with the following results: 8-0, 4-0, LBF 0:34. Logan Arp wrestled in the 55 lbs., 7-8 year old division and finished the competition in third place: WBF 0:17, 4-6 OT, WBF 0:40, WBF 0:47.
Jaret Probasco competed in the 100 lbs., 13-14 year old division and received the fifth place medal: 2-13, LBF 0:44, WBF 0:37.
