GRUNDY CENTER - The Van Dyk sisters took home the medals, but Grundy Center kept the 'W.'

South Tama's Paige and Taylor Van Dyk were the medalists Tuesday at Town and Country Golf Club while the Spartans claimed the dual victory, 186-193, in girls' golf action.

On the boys' side, Gladbrook-Reinbeck too had two medalists in Kevin Trobaugh and Brady Billerbeck though they were able to hold on for a win in the day's triangular meet on the par-36 course.

The Rebels carded a 183 to best both Grundy Center (189) and South Tama (208).

Paige Van Dyk, a sophomore, had the girls' low round of the day with a 41 while sister Taylor, a University of Northern Iowa recruit, was one stroke behind with a 42 to capture the runner-up medal for the Trojans.

While STC had the day's two lowest scores, the Spartans managed to bunch their scoring four all in the 40s.

Josie McMartin paced Grundy Center with a 44. Baylie Wrage tabbed a 45 while Lindsay Freeman tallied 48 and Hilary Samo 49.

Madison Grineski came in with a 54 and Mackenzie Mackie a 55 to round out the Spartans' contingent on their home course.

Amelia Hoskey had a 54 for STC while both Kourtne Smith and Jenn Maus tallied a 56.

Tanya Halverson carded a 57 for STC.

Trobaugh took boys' medalist honors with his 44 on the afternoon.

It was the second medalist performance from Trobaugh in as many days after he boasted the lowest score at Monday's meet in Denver. He shot a two-over 37 as G-R suffered just its second loss in a dual this season that day.

Trobaugh carded four pars on this day.

Billerbeck's day included a pair of pars en route to the runner-up medal with a score of 45.

G-R also got a 46 from Parker Bolt and a 48 from Brandon Trepp.

Jacob Smoldt and Cobren Bird both shot a 51 for the Rebels.

The host Spartans had a trio of golfers post 46s to lead their way to the second-place finish.

Elliot Eggleston, Ryon Appel and Nick Saak all carded a 46 while Nathan Graham rounded out the Grundy Center scoring four with a 51.

Lane Bangasser tallied 53 while Sam Thompson had a 61 for the Spartans.

South Tama was led by Dalton Doyle's 48 while both Kolton Smith and Donovan Horne carded 53s on the day. Alec Hill and Trent Barnes both tallied a 54.

Taylen Anderson shot a 69 for the Trojans.

Both the G-R boys and girls return to the links Friday at Waterloo for a triangular with North Tama and Hudson.

The STC boys host an invitational Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. while the girls are off until Friday at Newton.

The Grundy Center girls (25-4) as well as the boys travel to Denver on Thursday.
