STC seventh grade boys relays place high at home meet

South Tama's seventh grade boys track and field team placed seventh at its home meet last week.

The Trojans scored 43 points at the meet. They placed in several events and brought home gold in one event.

STC's lone victory came in the shuttle hurdle relay. The Trojans won in a time of 1:15.71, which was two seconds better than its previous-best time. Relay members were Jaquez Nipwater, Elias Garcia, Riley Davenport and Kolbie Clark.

The Trojans also placed high in the 400-meter relay as it finished runner-up in a time of 57.9 seconds. Team members were Daniel Mendoza, Garcia, Kyle Kucera and Clark.

The highest individual event for STC was the 200-meter hurdles. Davenport placed third, running 32.82. Garcia finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 20.84. Clark also placed sixth in the 100-meter dash, running the event in 14.71 seconds.

In the field events, STC placed fifth and sixth in the discus. Nathan Weiss and Clayton Rosenberger finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Weiss threw the discus 80 feet, while Rosenberger set a mark of 76 feet, 11 inches. Clark and Davenport placed sixth and seventh in the high jump by clearing 4-6 and 4-4.

South Tama's 1,600-meter relay team finished fourth in a time of 4:42.47. Relay team members were Kucera, Rosenberger, Jonathan Luna and Davenport. STC's 3,200-meter relay and sprint medley each placed fifth. The 3,200 relay members were Kucera, Rosenberger, Luna and Hunter Filloon. The sprint medley team was Jonah Bearden, Mendoza, Rosenberger and Jarret Morris.

The Trojans' 800-meter relay and distance medley teams placed sixth in the meet. Relay members for the 800 relay team were Nipwater, Bearden, Valdez and Mendoza, while Luna, Nipwater, Valdez ad Morris made up the distance medley squad.
