MARSHALLTOWN - Did you know that according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, there were 1,246,248 violent crimes reported to law enforcement in 2010? This means every minute approximately two people are the victims of a violent crime in the United States.
Iowa Valley Continuing Education has partnered with Adaptive Combat Training to offer Basic Self Defense class. This introductory hands-on class will teach you the necessary skills to survive stressful, dangerous, and violent situations regardless of your age, size or previous experience. Theexpert instructors use a practical hands-on approach to real-life situations. You will be instructed in effective and easy to learn methods to deter an attacker and practice many techniques during the class. This course is designed for women, men, and responsible teenagers.
There are two instructors for Basic Self-Defense and together they have 35 years combined Martial Arts Study, 29 combined years in law enforcement, 13 years combined S.W.A.T. Team experience plus additional training and teaching experience in specialty law enforcement areas. Their expertise and real life experience will make this a very valuable class for everyone attending.
The Basic Self-Defense class will prepare you to defend yourself and your loved ones.
Class will meet on Tuesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Iowa Valley Continuing Education, 3702 S Center St, room 614 in Marshalltown. Cost of the course is $39 and the course number is PSD 3100-001. Registrations are now being taken by calling IVCE at 752-4645.
