Nessie Buffalo honored as among outstanding in English at Kirkwood

Nessie Buffalo was recognized among the outstanding students attending Kirkwood Community College during a ceremony and reception on April 11 at the The Hotel at Kirkwood Center.

She is the daughter of John Buffalo and granddaughter of Ruth Buffalo, both of rural Tama.

She was recognized as an Outstanding Student in the English Department. Students were nominated and voted on by the faculty.

Kirkwood President Mick Starevich gave the welcome.

Keynote speakers were Jane Grabowski, an assistant professor in Arts and Humanities and Lori Merkak, assistant professor in Business and Information Technology.

Closing remarks were presented by Bill Lamb, vice president of Academic Affairs.
