On March 21, the South Tama Middle School won the 26 team Battle of the Books competition held in Cedar Falls.
The Area Education Agency 267 sponsors the event and sends out their book list each September to competing teams.
Each middle school team consists of six students responsible for reading forty books to prepare for the competition. Teams from north / central Iowa meet in Cedar Falls to compete.

Each team takes an extensive written test over all books they were assigned. The top five teams with the highest scores in the written test round then qualify for the oral testing round. South Tama made it to the final round and was the only school to accomplish a perfect score in oral questioning round.
These students put in a great deal of hard work to win this competition. This is a tremendous achievement for our students, school and community.
