By Steve Bearden , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

The STC girls tennis team started its season in winning fashion on Tuesday by downing Oskaloosa by a score of 9-2.

The meet served as the first contest held at the recently improved STC Tennis Complex. The Trojans got off to a quick start by sweeping five of the first six singles events. They followed that up by grabbing five of the six doubles contests.

At No. 1 Singles, STC Senior Kendra Bradley faced off against two-time state qualifier Amanda Stefanik. Bradley focused on making her opponent move around the court. She effectively used the short ball to draw Stefanik into the front court. Bradley followed up with a lob or deep ball to keep her opponent guessing. Stefanik's tough serving proved to be the difference at this stage of the season as she held on for a 10-2 victory.
