Mayor addresses Toledo Police issue

April 4, 2012

Letter To the Editor:

Toledo police issue

It seems there are people out in the area who are not happy with the way the police issue in Toledo is developing. There is no way everybody can be pleased all the time. The council has put forth a lot of effort to make sure the safety and wellbeing of the community gets number I priority.

There was some discussion about having one police chief for both communities, but due to a study that was done a few years back, and input from Sargent Kendall, Chief Wilkens, and others, it was decided that this was not a good time to try to have only one chief. There are many factors involved. But just to clear the air, Chief Wilkens did not try to sway the council to let him take over.

As to the fact that there are people out there spreading rumors on the internet about things they do not have all the facts on, get the facts first. Then if you have a problem with something, contact the mayor or the council member of choice. The council has put forth much effort into the decisions they make.

In addition, if there are people out there who think they, could do better then run for office, or at least attend council meetings. Please do not use the intemet for bashing!!
