Robert A. Damon

Robert A. Damon passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on March 24, 2012. The funeral service will be held at Corry Alliance Church in Corry, Pa.,m at 11 a.m. on April 9, 2012, followed by interment at Pine Grove Cemetery. It is respectfully suggested that any memorials be made to Corry Alliance Church or American Hospice.

Robert was born in Corry, Pa., on July 26, 1918. He grew up in Corry and then enlisted in the military during World War II and trained as a P-47 fighter pilot. While on leave in 1944, he met and married Carol Heck. They went on to have seven children and resided primarily in Tama, Iowa.

Bob was a devout Christian with a great sense of humor and a passion for life. Among the many things he did during his life, he was a minister, school psychologist, volunteered for the Peace Corps and did missionary work in Japan.

He is survived by his two sons and four daughters, Randall Damon, Jonathan Damon, Alison Damon, Susannah Damon, Martha Damon and Patricia Damon. He is preceded in death by his daughter Phyllis Damon. He has 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
