Marshalltown man handed suspended, 10-year prison term

Before Tama County District Court Judge Stephen B. Jackson Jr. in Toledo:

Salvador Buenrrostro-Fonseca, 41, Marshalltown, was sentenced to a suspended term of 10 years in prison and had a $1,000 fine suspended on March 9.

He pled guilty to a charge of lascivious acts with a child on Feb. 10.

Buenrrostro-Fonseca was placed on probation of three years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services, assessed a $250 civil penalty and was directed to pay a $10 registration fee for the sex abuser register.

He was accused in an incident which occurred on Nov. 7, 2011, in Garwin, involving an eight-year-old child. The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt.

Kevin Ray Stull Jr., 19, Toledo pled guilty to a charge of 3rd degree sexual abuse. He was granted a deferred judgement and was placed on probation for three years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. A $1,000 civil penalty as suspended. It was noted in court records Stull will not be required to register on the sex offender registry.

He originally faced two counts of 3rd degree sexual abuse for incidents which allegedly occurred on July 31 and August 1, 2010, involving a 13-year-old. The charges were filed by Toledo Police Officer Brian Randall.

OscarChavarria-Valencia, 18, Toledo pled guilty to driving while license suspended. He was fined $1,000.

He was charged in a County Attorney's information filed June 11, 2011.

Ryan Martin Smith, 30, Iowa Falls, pled guilty to possession of marijuana. Judgement was deferred and he was placed on unsupervised probation and directed to pay a $315 civil penalty.

He was charged on Oct. 1, 2011, at U.S. Highway 63 at 200th Street following a traffic stop of a vehicle in which he was a passenger. The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Trevor Killian.
