The South Tama School Board will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2012-13 budget on Monday, March 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Administrative Office, 1702 Harding, Tama.
The budget calls for spending totaling $20,450,342 including $14,862,015 in general fund expenditures.
Factors including decreased state aid due to declining enrollment and a 10 percent cut two years ago coupled with a required repayment of unspent federal special education funds have forced a proposed 28 percent hike in local property tax askings according to school officials.
Following the hearing, the board will meet in regular session.
Agenda items include:
approve fiscal year 2013 budget
final reading of board policy for post issuance compliance regulation for tax exempt obligations
personnel- resignations and contracts
approve early graduation requests
discuss elementary intervention
School board meetings are open to the public.
