Thanks to the efforts of South Tama Elementary students and resulting generous donations, the American Heart Association has received a hefty donation.
Elementary principal Jim Bugge and physical education teacher Lon Wilkerson got to get all "dressed up" for the occasion last Friday as can be seen it in the photo at the right. The two fulfilled their pledge to wear dresses to school if this year's goal was met.
Students took part in a Jump Rope for Heart event on Feb. 17.
It was a matter of personal taste in who looked the “spiffiest” when South Tama Elementary Principial Jim Bugge and physical eduction teacher Lon Wilkerson fulfilled their pledge to dress up if an American Heart Association fundraising goal was met by students. Both drew the line at “accessory shoes” however.
Through this and other projects the elementary students raised $4,699.
An assembly with more fun was planned for Friday afternoon.
This was the third annual American Heart Association event at the STC?Elementary School.
Each year staff members agree to "spice" up the cause. Last year it was "kissing a pig."
