Calvin James Putney, 57, of Toledo passed away, Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Chautauqua Guest Home #2 in Charles City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Darren Mathes officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until time of service Saturday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Calvin was born on February 13, 1955 the son of Jack and Donna (Krall) Putney. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Calvin was formerly married to Diana Hainline and they later divorced. He was a Tool and Die Cast Instructor at Marshalltown Community College and was a Journeyman Tool and Die Machinist. Calvin enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Panhead. He also liked camping and fishing. Calvin loved dogs and football as well. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his mother and former wife, Diana (George) Davis.

Survivors include two children, Mikul Putney of Marshalltown and Shellina (Rigo Garcia) Putney of Tama; six grandchildren, Jaime, Ryan, Mercedez, Marty, and Savanna, and Samuel; his father, Jack (Denise) Putney of Minnesota; siblings, Craig (B.J.) Krall of Nashua, Curt (Joann) Herman, Callie (David) Deere, Corey (Sheila) Putney, and Cammie (Chris) Ogden all of Charles City, and Chris (Sarah) Warren of Minnesota; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
