The Tama County Historical and Genealogical Society will have the first meeting of the year at 7 p.m., Wednesday March 7, at the museum in Toledo.
The special guest will be Federica Pozzi, South Tama High School AFS foreign exchange student from Italy.
Federica is from Varese which is close to Milan, one of the largest and most beautiful cities in northern Italy. Varese is close to the border of Switzerland, and the region is called "Pre-Alps", best known for its big lakes and the outstanding view of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe.
AFS?student at South Tama High School
Federica is being hosted by Larry and Paula Rohach, Toledo, for the entire school year. She has two American sisters: Alexa who is a sophomore at Simpson College, and Jade, a junior at South Tama. Federica's mum, Cristina, is a high school English teacher who knows several languages. Her father, Mario, has his own company building motor coaches. Fede also has a brother, Matteo, who just turned fourteen.
In Fede's free time she enjoys skiing which she learned when she was three years old. During her time here she has participated as volleyball manager, Large Group Speech, varsity boys' basketball cheerleader, and plans on participating in tennis. She thoroughly enjoys the school system here because she is able to express creativity and the ability to develop friendships with the teachers. Federica's career interests include studying law or journalism, but she must first complete her senior year in her homeland.
This is a great opportunity for members of the community to welcome Federika and learn about her life in Italy, so please join us for an informative, fun evening.
