Gerald W. Miller, 85, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 ,at Carrington Place of Toledo. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will be at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 12:30 1:30 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Gerald was born on July 10, 1926, in Tama, the son of Ralph T. and D. Marie (Corfman) Miller.
He attended grade school in rural Tama and graduated from Toledo High School in 1944. Gerald served his country in the Air Force during World War II.
On Feb. 5, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Fisher at the Toledo Methodist parsonage. Gerald worked at Fisher Controls and farmed near Toledo until retiring in 1990. He enjoyed working on the farm, his dog, Tuffy, Bluegrass music, and dancing. He had a love for tractors and cars, wintering in Texas, a ride in the country, and a good hand in Pepper. His greatest enjoyment was time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Toledo; his children, Murray Miller of West Palm Beach, Fla., Karyn Miller of Diamond Bar, Calif., and Denise Miller of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Simone and Brianna Sohk, and Justin Houghton; one great-grandson, Owen Crabbs; one brother, Lowell (Marjorie) Miller of Norfolk, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.
