The JV girl's basketball team ended their season on Friday Feb. 10 at Union. The Trojans lost a tough game by a score of 31-33. The game came down to the final seconds as the teams were tied at 31-31. Unfortunately Union was sent to the line on a foul with 20 seconds remaining, and won the game. The girls were led by sophomore Trisha Walz's 16 points and 13 rebounds. Hailee Weiss chipped in 7 points and 12 rebounds. That was the girl's third game of the week and they fought very hard for a victory and were just not able to come out on top in the end.
The Trojans traveled to Dike-New Hartford for theirfirst game of the week, on Tuesday Feb. 7th, to take on a very tough team. The girls ended up losing only their second game of the season 37-31. Dike was playing most of their varsity girls including a 6'4 center. It was a tough night for us because we were missing a few girls because the varsity girls had a home game also that night, but we fought hard. The Trojans were led again by Walz with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Paige Van Dyk, Emily Martin, and Hailee Weiss each contributed 6 points.
On Thursday Feb. 9th the girls traveled to Benton and ended up winning a very good ball game 46-33. The gym was packed and the atmosphere was great as people got there early in anticipation of the varsity match-up afterwards. The Trojans were led by Weiss's 10 points and 14 rebounds. Van Dyk, Walz, and Regina Balderas each added 7 points.

Overall we had a great season on the junior varsity team. We finished the year undefeated in the NICL West Division and undefeated at home. I am very proud of how hard all of these girls worked during the long season. There is a lot of talent still left in the Trojans girl's basketball program and I wouldn't be surprised to see another Conference Championship for South Tama in the near future.
The junior varsity roster consists of: Shelby Bradley, Samantha Magpie, Sherrie Marland, Taylor Ellenbecker, Emily Martin, Regina Balderas, Madison Baack, Tori Appelgate, Paige Van Dyk, Kyrsha Balderas, Trisha Walz, Hailee Weiss, Mollie Morgan, Erin Clayton, and manager Araceli Angel.
