Patricia “Trish” Mauskemo

Patricia “Trish” Mauskemo, 64, St. Charles, Minn., and formerly of Tama, died on Sunday, Feb/ 12, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in St. Charles. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Meskwaki Friends Center near Tama with Rev. Victor White officiating.  Casket Bearers will be Bruce Mauskemo, Michael Mauskemo, Dan Diehm, Craig Howard, James Howard and Ryan Good. Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery near Montour with the Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell handling arrangements. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell from 4 p.m. - 7p.m. on Wednesday. Patricia was born on April 27, 1947, in Grinnell, to Bert and Georgia Belcher Diehm. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School. Following her education she worked at General Telephone Company of the Midwest in Grinnell.  On March 9, 1974, she was married to Marvel Mauskemo in Grinnell. The couple lived in various communities in southwest Minnesota and settled in St. Charles. She was a homemaker and mother but also worked in the food service of the St.  Charles School System and as a certified nurse’s assistant at the Golden Living Center in St. Charles. The couple moved to Tama after their retirement but later relocated back to Saint Charles to be near their children. She enjoyed nature on the Meskwaki Settlement and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Marvel Mauskemo. St. Charles, Minn.; two daughters, Melinda A. Mauskemo.Los Angeles, Calif. and Christine L. Mauskemo, North Hollywood, Calif.; two sons, Michael L. Mauskemo. St. Charles, Minn. and Bruce (Jessi) W. Mauskemo, Rochester, Minn.; one step daughter, Robin (Chet) Dickey.Mitchellville, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Damien, Brando, Greyson, Emmalynn, Kiana, Cole, Dylan and Sydney; and her siblings, Betty O’Halloran, Malcom and Clara (Rocky) Duntz, Des Moines, Linda Diehm,Newton, Carol (Harvel) Rogers, Springfield, Mo, Joe (Dori) Diehm, Newton, IA, Diane (Kenneth) Mortenson, Keota, IA, Debra (Rick) Howard, New Sharon and Dan (Sheila) Diehm, Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bertie and Jacob Diehm; and one granddaughter, Caitlin Noel Mauskemo. <
