Sonja Lou Kasal, 72, Toledo, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor John Janke officiating. Private Interment will be held at a future date. A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb.16, from 6-8 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Sonja was born on July 17, 1939, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Delno and Ruby (Pope) Hall.
She graduated from Toledo High School.
On June 5, 1957, she was united in marriage to Roger L. "Frog" Kasal at the Methodist parsonage in Toledo. Sonja was a teacher's aide in the South Tama School District from 1981 until her retirement in 2004. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger "Frog" Kasal; her parents; and one sister, Sue Christianson.
Survivors include four children, Deb (Herbie) Wilson. Marshalltown, Lori Grommet, Marshalltown, Rick (Lisa Billington) Kasal, Grand Island, Neb., and Nancy (Mark) Wolken, Marshalltown; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Linda) Hall, Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews.
