"I don't care who you play, you cannot turn the ball over 27 times and expect to succeed. I mean, it's that simple. We did not play well," conceded head coach Lonnie Hammond after the 68-43 loss at home January 10.

From beginning to end, South Tama's woes continued while Grundy Center (4-7) dominated the Trojans in every phase of the game.
The Trojans fell behind early, 9-0, before Brad Evans connected to give South Tama its first points of the game with 5:39 to go. But by the end of the first quarter, South Tama was 16 points behind, 21-9.
Sam Kuhter and Evans combined for six points in the second quarter as the Trojans gave up ten. South Tama went in at the half down, 31-15.
Jose Fonseca, Evans and Kuhter added eleven points in the third quarter, but Grundy Center continued its inexorable run to the victory, pouring in 22 points of their own. The Spartans led after three, 53-26.
The benches cleared in the fourth quarter. A small consolation for the Trojans was winning the fourth quarter, 17-15. The Spartans prevailed, 68-43.
Sam Kuhter was the lone Trojan to be fouled in the act of shooting by the Spartans. He made the most of South Tama's only trip to the line, going two-for-two with 6:13 left in the game. Grundy Center was 8-17 from the charity stripe. South Tama was charged with 13 fouls, while the Spartans had just four for the game.
"When we executed without turning the ball over, Brad Evans has ten points, all inside. We saw a zone all night tonight, we're going to see a zone Friday night. You have to get the ball inside some to beat a zone," said Hammond.
"We've Just got to go back to practice and work on what we need to get better. Can't do much else," said Hammond. "We know we can do better."
South Tama now stands 0-11 (0-8) for the season. The Trojans hosted East Marshall January 13.
