Kathleen Marie "Kathy" Murphy Studards, 57, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at her home in Steelville, Mo., after losing her 2 yr. battle with cancer. Graveside service was held at the Steelville Cemetery in Steelville, Mo. on Friday, Dec. 30.

She was born Dec. 7, 1954, in Oelwein, Iowa, to Dr. George Murphy and Bettie (Murphy) Bernardy.

Kathy spent her early years in Jesup, Iowa, until 1963, when her family moved to Tama. She graduated from South Tama County High School and then moved to Louisiana, Mo. She married Rick Moesch June 1, 1973, and had four wonderful children. Kathy married again to Chris Studards on May 10, 2003, and they moved to Steelville, Mo.

Kathy loved gardening and landscaping around their home, spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Kathy is preceded in death by her father Dr. George Murphy; her brothers, David and Jim and sister, Becky Reinier.

She is survived by her husband, Chris Studards, Steelville; four loving children Chris (Krissy) Moesch, Hawk Point, Mo., Michelle (Liddell) Thomas, Kansas City, Mo., Joe (Kristy) Moesch, St. Joseph, Mo., and Elizabeth (Mike) Kimbrough, Cameron, Mo., seven grandchildren: Charlie, Brandon, Emma, Britney, Mia, Austin, and Dexter; her loving mother, Bettie Bernardy; her stepfather, Ben Bernardy; her brothers, Dr. Michael Murphy (Wendy), Hannibal, Mo., Tim Murphy, Hannibal, Joe Murphy (Kay), Toledo, and Tom Murphy (Chris), Tama; her sisters, Susan Auffert (Craig), Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ann Brown (Burdette),Oskaloosa; her three stepbrothers and her two stepsisters, all of California; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathy is also survived by her mother-in-law Virginia Studards, step-daughter Jenna Studards, brother and sister-in laws Mike (Dolly) Studards, Tom (Paulette) Studards and John (Marge) Studards.

Graveside Service was held at the Steelville Cemetery in Steelville, Mo. on Friday, December 30, 2011.*
