Joanna Hofer, South Tama Schools director of fiance and operations, made a presentation about the financial status of the district and the implications of offering a retirement incentive to the school board at their Dec. 21 meeting.
It was reported there currently are six certified staff members and about five support staff members that are eligible.
To do this it will be necessary to increase the levy for the management fund if the board elects to continue the retirement incentive. Superintendent Kerri Nelson recommended continuing the retirement incentive this year.
Board members voted 5-0 to continue the program this year with members Michelle Yuska, Anne Michael, Jackie Dvorak, Mark McFate and Ron Hala all voting in favor.
In other action the board:
accepted the bid of Thys Chevrolet, Toledo, for two, 9-passenger Suburban vehicles for $67,395; Rydell Chevrolet for a new Impala for $19,988; and School Bus Sales for two new busses at $92,562 each with a $1,750 trade-in allowance on each.
accepted the resignation of Dave Gauthier as a bus driver effective Dec. 13.
approved a math textbook adaptation following a presentation by Eric Townsley and Joel Murphy
heard an update on the Wieting Theatre renovations from Jim Roan, project director.
