JoAnn M. Latting, 68, Grinnell, died on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Nick Adam, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell, officiating. Pianist will be William Tinker. Casket Bearers will be Sam Barrett, Tony Butz, James Hosek, Randy Hosek, Cam Konicek, Zachary Latting, Rustal Martin and Gary McKenna. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning 12 noon on Sunday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 2 pm to 5 pm on Sunday.
JoAnn was born on September 15, 1943, in Toledo, to Joseph and Anna Dalecky Hosek. She was raised on a farm near Clutier and graduated from Toledo High School.
On May 22, 1965, she was married to Robert Latting at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Clutier. The couple resided in California and Washington State before moving to Ames. In 1969, they moved to Grinnell. Besides being a mother and homemaker she worked as a seamstress for DeLong's Sportswear Company and the Rock Creek Athletic Company in Grinnell.
JoAnn enjoyed sewing, crafts and baking. She adored her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Latting of Grinnell; two daughters, Terri (Mick) Kane of Hinsdale, Illinois and Traci (Mark) Corley of Jacksonville, Florida; one son, Tim (Stephanie) Latting of West Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; one sister, Marlys (Robert) Butz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and one brother, Richard (Phyllis) Hosek of Vining, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
