The 2012 Iowa State Dance / Drill Team Championships will be held at Wells Fargo Arena and HyVee Hall on Thursday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 2. The South Tama County High School dance team will perform on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
There will be over 5000 participants representing 275 high school dance team and color guards. ISDTA will also be hosting the 6th Annual Iowa College Dance Competition on Friday, Dec/ 2. There will be 23 college teams in competition.
Routines will be performed and judged in several categories: Pom, jazz, novelty, lights, military, hip hop, lyrical, hoopla, prop, kick, show production, color guard, all-male and coed. The teams are judged by an expert panel of judges from across the United States. The judges' scores are based on appearance, choreography, execution, technique and general effect/showmanship. Teams will be awarded Division 1, 11, Ill ratings along with trophy placements for those teams with the highest point totals. Teams are also recognized for academics, community service and sportsmanship.
The doors open to spectators at 7 a.m. The competition runs from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. both days.No advance ticket sales. All seats are general admission.Ticket cost is $10/day or $18 for a two-day pass.
