Vivian Jean (Arp) Lacina, 76, rural Tama, died Friday, November 25, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation for Vivian was Tuesday, November 29, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Vivian will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at the Crystal Cemetery near Garwin.
Vivian Jean (Arp) Lacina was born May 5, 1935, at the Indian Village Township in Tama, the daughter of Milo Henry and Doris Arleen (Berry) Arp. She attended school at Howard #5 Township until the 6th grade when she entered the Tama County School System in Toledo. She went on to graduate from high school in 1954. Vivian worked at "The Coffee Shop" in Tama, until her marriage to Roger Joseph Lacina on February 10, 1955, at the Montour Parsonage in Montour. Roger and Vivian spent their married lives on the home farm in Tama and had two daughters, Audrey Mae and Joyce Ann. Vivian was actively working on their family farm with Roger caring for their stock cattle, hogs, chickens and milk cows of which they sold their surplus to local businesses in town.

After they sold most of their livestock, she went back to work as a cashier at "Brooks Grocery Store" in Tama and also as a waitress at the "Big T Maidrite" in Toledo. In 1980, they retired from farming and rented out their farmland. In 1982, they opened the oil and mechanical business, Lacina Co. in LeGrand. In 1985, they closed Lacina Co and started the dump trucking business, Roger J. Lacina Trucking and (Ag Lime and Rock Hauling.) This kept Vivian very busy answering phones and bookkeeping.
Vivian enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, dancing, camping and card parties. She was a member of the Tama Eagles and the Tama/Toledo American Legion.
Vivian is survived by her husband of 56 years Roger Joseph Lacina, her two daughters: Audrey May (Lacina) King, Montour, and Joyce Ann Lacina, Marshalltown, her three grandchildren: Wayne Roger Wilkey, Tama, James Hubert Dolezal Jr., Waterloo and Ryan Lee King, Marshalltown, her siblings: Raynard (Betty) Arp, Toledo, Arlene (Henry) Horstmann, Gladbrook, Larry (Nancy) Arp, Petersburg, Va., Dean (Wanda) Arp, Auburn, Wash., Aletta (Robert) Wagner, Onsted, Mich. and several nieces and nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her grandparents: George Elmer & Lena Christina (Brill) Berry, and Henry & Anna Arp, her parents: Milo Henry and Doris Arleen (Betty) Arp, her sister Leila Lena Anna (Arp) Staker, her brother LaVerne Henry Arp and her son-in-law Larry Wayne King.
