Barbara Diane Coye, 68, of Newton and formerly of Tama, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton under the care of Hospice of Jasper County. Funeral Services will be held Monday, Nov. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Dave Jaspers officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 27, from 3-5 p.m. att Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Barbara was born on Oct. 25, 1943, in Litchfield, Minn., the daughter of Elmer R. and Gwenavere (Nissen) Papesh.
She graduated from South Tama High School.

On Aug. 16, 1973, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Joel Coye in Camdenton, Mo. Barbara was a Nurse's Aid in home health care and worked at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown and Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. She also worked in retail at the Ben Franklin in Tama and various other area stores.
Throughout the years, she was active in the Baptist Church where she was also a Sunday school teacher. Barbara enjoyed Bible reading, putting out Bible Tracts, reading, camping and fishing with her husband. She was the best wife in the world and especially enjoyed one-on-one time with her granddaughter.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Robert and Bill Papesh; and one sister, Bev Crawford.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Coye, Newton; one son, Randy (Lynda) Caley.Centerville,; one granddaughter, Alyssa Caley; two brothers, Brian (Janice) Papesh, Conifer, Colo., and Barry (Terri) Papesh, Tama; her mother-in-law, Rachel Coye. Newton; and her sister-in-law, Jeanie (Sevcik) Papesh, Bloomington, Ind.
