It's likely at least a few of those attending South Tama Schools "Project Sixty" have memories of another Dec 7 event- Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7 1941 - "the day which will live in infamy" when Japanese forces attacked the U.S. Military fleet in Hawaii drawing the United States into World War II.
For 2011, students and staff at South Tama High and Middle schools will again be featuring a big turkey dinner and holiday entertainment for all community members age 60 and over. Donations are accepted.
Reservations are needed by Nov. 30 by calling the STC?High School - 641-484-4345 and pressing "O" to reach the office.
The meal will be served at 1 p.m.
The event was begun by Jim Dodd, superintendent of South Tama Schools in the early 1980s, and has been continued as a seasonal tradition ever since.
