Delmer Dean Brunssen

Delmer Dean Brunssen, 86, of Elberon, passed away at home under Hospice Care on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011. Services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church in Belle Plaine by Rev. Pete Hagglund. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine with Military Rites. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 4 7 p.m. at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and after 9:00 AM Wednesday at the church.

Delmer was born November 15, 1924 in rural Elberon to Carl and Alma (Hennings) Brunssen. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathryn; daughters and their spouses; Diane (Larry) Sand, Lilburn, GA; Carol (Dennis) Schminke, Atkins; and Corene (Jan) Messer, Manchester; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Bland, Colorado Springs, CO; Melissa (Corey) Coates, Manchester; Mindy (Jay) Kimm, Floyds Knobs, IN; Brad Sand, Marietta, GA; Tanya (Dan) Reade, North Liberty; Jared (Lori) Messer, Farley; Jeff (Amy) Sand, Dunwoody, GA; Rachel (Todd) Richards, Peachtree City, GA; Dion Schminke, North Liberty; and Traci (Jesse) Lewin, Manchester; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Bachman, Evelyn Schoelerman and Lois Hain; sister-in-law, Elnora Brunssen; and brother-in-law, Ed Hain.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Laverna Cohrt and Elvera Sindt and brothers Roly, Marvin, Dick, and two infant brothers.
