Elsie Vivienne Benedik, 92, of 1509 5th Ave., Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Oct. 30, 2011, at her home after a brief illness. Services will be held at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, by Pastor Mel Kendall, Ottumwa, Iowa. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Vining, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at the Hrabak Funeral Home. .
Vivienne was born to Tom and Gertrude Adams on December 2, 1918, in Blairstown, Iowa. She grew up and was educated in the Blairstown and Tama areas. Vivienne married Frank Benedik on December 4, 1938, at Toledo, Iowa.
Vivienne had a great fondness for nature, especially birds. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast. She and Frank had a beautiful life together with lots of laughter and tears that are part of raising a family. The accidental loss of 2 sons within a three-year period was a tragedy that she never really overcame, and she will rejoice in reuniting with them in heaven.
Survivors include daughters Marge (Gerry) Bergert of Belle Plaine; Barbara (Jerry) Anderson of Kalispell, Montana; Daughter-in-law, Nanae (Frank) Marlott of Gowen, Michigan; 9 grandchildren; Chuck (Liz) Benedik of Cedar Springs, Michigan, Paula Benedik of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Frank R. Benedik of San Diego, California, James (Joanna) Bergert of Williams, Iowa, Tim (Debbie) Anderson of Kalispell, Montana, Ted Anderson of Kalispell, Montana, Tammy (Rich) Plotner of Manassas, Virginia, Captain Todd (Nicky) Anderson, stationed at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonia, Texas, Brittney (Paul) Sieler of Kalispell, Montana. Eighteen great-grandchildren; Spring, Jade, Candy, Sierra, and Austin Benedik, Jason Benedik, Seth and Kyle Bergert, Hannah Anderson, Benjamin, Jude, Sadie and Amber Anderson, Andrew and Brandon Plotner, Toni Anderson, Natasha and Francine Sieler, Four great-great grandchildren, Lillian Anderson, Gabriel, Chloe and Kason Browning.
Vivienne was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Richard and Gene, sisters, Ann Dippel, Nettie Werner, and Bonnie Kelding, and brothers Edwin, Tom, and Dewey Adams.
