Toledo races Nov. 8 for mayor, council

Two-way Mayor Contest In Tama

There's three candidates on the ballot for the Toledo mayor's post and races for both city council seats which are up for election this year.

Two-term incumbent Mayor Pam Wood is being challenged by Jared Zimmermann and Dave Svoboda.

There's a total of four candidates for the open council-at-large seat currently held by Dan Ferris who is not seeking reelection. In the race are Kyle Chaska, a former 1st Ward council member, Jeff Filloon, Ed Kavapil and Steve Vesely.

Incumbent council member Duane Pansegrau faces Terry Goodhart for the 2nd Ward council post.

In Toledo, the mayor serves two-year terms. Council terms are for four years.

Polls are open in Toledo and Tama from 7 a.m.- 8 p.m.

Toledo voters cast ballots at the Reinig-Toledo Civic Center, 1107 Prospect Dr.


Incumbent city council member Dan Zimmerman and Jarade Purk are vying for the mayor's post in Tama being vacated by Chris Bearden who is retiring after two terms.

Seeking the three, at-large positions on the city council are incumbent Steve Baier, Kenny McAdoo, a past council member, Crystal Kaufman and write-in candidate Mike Carnahan.

In Tama, the mayor and city council members all serve four-year terms.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. in Toledo and Tama on Tuesday Nov. 8.
