The Toledo GFWC/Iowa Woman’s Club met October 10, 2011 at the Toledo Library, hostess were Arlene Gerlach and Ann McMullin. Attending were seventeen members and three guests.
Vice President Karen Havran introduced our speakers, Pat Patterson and Max Beck World War 11 Veterans and Elizabeth Ledvina, Director of Veteran’s Affairs.
Pat and Max were on the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight that left on April 26th 2011. They shared their story of their trip and shared picture with us.
President Joanne Yuska, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and the reading of “A Health Message for Ladies”.
Roll call: Was a memory of Georgia Matzdorff who will be moving to Minnesota in November.
Georgia was presented with a flower and thanked for her many years as a member of the Woman’s club.
Secretary Roberta Dostal, read the minutes from the September 13th meeting.
Minutes were approved with the correction of adding Ann Hendricks to the list of those attending the district meeting in Mt Vernon.
Marlene Eernisse, Treasurer gave the treasure report.
Thank you note was read from Rhonda Miller from Iowa River Hospice and Marie Pulse’s daughter.
Due to the donation by the members to Iowa River Hospice we are eligible for a brick with GFWC/Iowa Toledo Woman’s Club on it.
President Joanne Yuska, reported on the district meeting on September 24th at Mt Vernon, Iowa. Attending were Joanne, Marlene, Floriss, Earlene, Karen & Ann H.
Speaker at the district meeting was Mick Angel, counselor at the Mt Vernon High School, he spoke on Bulling in the School’s
Toledo Woman’s Club GFWC received eight awards.
State Honorable Mention Awards were Arts, Conservation, Public Issues, Education, Membership, Communication & Identity, Fundraising and Home Life.
Earlene Bacon reported on delivery of the Meals on Wheels. Delivering meals for October were Marlene Eernisse, Ken & Nancy Carson, Barb Muecke, Frank & Floriss Adair and Earlene Bacon.
Corrections were made to our program books. Due to Georgia moving Roberta Dostal will now be on the committee for Bingo at Carrington Place.
Federation News was given by Ann Hendricks. She spoke on recycling.
Happy Dollars were collected. President Joanne Yuska adjourned the meeting by leading the Collect.
