New parade route, time this year

OLEDO CHRONICLE-South Tama’s annual Homecoming parade will be at a new time and follow a new route this year. The parade will be launched at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 29) from Commercial Street near the Reinig-Toledo Civic Center. The parade will go through the former Subway - Sub City parking lot and head east on Business Route 30 to South Broadway.

It will then proceed south on Broadway to the Toledo city limits and end at Oak Park at 17th and McClellan in Tama.

At school, dress-up days continue through the week with themes such as “Super Hero Day / Mismatch Day” on Wednesday and “Spirit Day” on Friday.

On Friday, Sept. 30, a Homecoming Picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the practice football field west of the high school.

The pep rally will take place from 1 - 2 p.m. followed by Powderpuff Football and Volleyball also on the practice field.

The South Tama football team will take on the Solon Spartans on Trojan Field in Toledo Friday night.

The Homecoming Dance will be Saturday night from 8-11 p.m. in the high school gym.

STC Elementary Boosters and Friends of the Middle School will be selling Rube’s hamburgers and steak burgers at the STC Homecoming football games on Friday, Sept. 30, starting at 5 p. m.

Burgers will be available during both the freshman and varsity games. Also available for purchase will be boxes of frozen Rube’s steak sandwiches.

All money raised will be used to support the students and staff at the elementary and middle school.

Both groups exist to help provide educational opportunities to students that encourage success and complement the district’s goals.

Tama County Cattlemen will be assisting with the grilling.
