Gov. Terry Branstad has ordered all flags in Iowa to be flown at half-staff Friday. Sept 23, through Monday 8 a.m. in honor of State Trooper Mark Toney and Michael Collins, a volunteer firefighter who was directing traffic around a car accident on Interstate Highway 80 when he was struck and killed by a car.
Toney died in a single-vehicle accident on Wednesday.
Collin’s funeral is Friday and Toney will be laid to rest on Saturday.
The U.S. flag flown over the Capitol on the day of each funeral will be presented to each man’s family along with a proclamation honoring them.
