South Tama Homecoming gets under way Saturday

TAMA NEWS-HERALD-South Tama High School Homecoming 2011 starts this Saturday, Sept. 24, with float building from 4-8 p.m. Construction continues on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday and Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. The theme this year is “Smash the Spartans!” You’ll get to see the floats and parade in a new setting announced for this year. The Homecoming parade will start at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, near the Reinig-Toledo Civic Center, on Commercial Street and proceed via Business Route 30 to Broadway and south on Broadway to Oak Park on McClellan in Tama. to the High School The coronation for the 2011 King and Queen will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the high school. A Homecoming picnic is set for Friday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. followed by a pep rally in the high school gym. There will also be “Powderpuff Football” and volleyball on Friday afternoon. The South Tama Trojans take on the Solon Spartans in the homecoming tilt on Trojan Field in Toledo on Friday night. The Homecoming dance is Saturday night at the high school from 8-11 p.m. STC Elementary Boosters and Friends of the Middle School will be selling Rube’s hamburgers and steak burgers at the Homecoming football games on Friday, starting at 5 p. m. Burgers will be available during both the freshman and varsity games. Also available for purchase will be boxes of frozen Rube’s steak sandwiches. All money raised will be used to support the students and staff at the elementary and middle school. Both groups exist to help provide educational opportunities to students that encourage success and complement the district’s goals. Tama County Cattlemen will be assisting with the grilling.
