Shirley Jean (Ray) Duvall, 69, of Tama, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Tama.
Shirley Jean Duvall was born Feb. 12, 1942 in Huntsville, Ala., the daughter of Thomas and Audie C. (Upton) Ray. Most of her adult life was lived in the state of Iowa but always held a special place in her heart for Alabama. She was a devoted mother who loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her six children; two sons, Terry (Jone) Johnson, Coralville, ; Michael (Karen) Johnson, Dewar, Iowa; four daughters, Marci Johnson, Ft. Dodge; Kimberly (Bob) McFatridge,Tama; Beth (Joe) Dean, Waterloo, and Renda Van Brocklin, Dysart,; and over 30 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse five brothers, two sisters, three grandsons, two great-grandsons and her first husband and life-long friend Thomas Johnson.
