Lois was born on Nov. 12, 1919, in Tama, the daughter of Michael and Louise (Prueter) Vavra. She was educated and graduated from the Tama High School in 1937.
On June 4, 1940, she was united in marriage to Albert L. Podhajsky of Clutier in the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.
Over the years, her hobbies included fishing, noted seamstress and loved quilt making and listening and dancing to old time music. She belonged to the Cedar Valley Polka Club, K.D. Lodge, Catholic Order of Foresters, and CCW. She also loved doing cross word puzzles and playing scrabble.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Albert in 2006; two sisters, Irene Gettemy and Eunice Cocayne; and a great grandchild, Noah Speck.
Surviving are her three sons, David (Irene) Podhajsky, Clutier, Thomas (Vicky) Podhajsky, Garwin and Michael Podhajsky, Albion; four grandchildren Lori (Rick) Speck, Garwin, Ellen (Adam) Stoakes, Clutier, Yvonne (Michael) Gardenier,West Liberty, Iowa, and Byron (Dawn) Podhajsky of Janesville, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren, Danielle (fiancé Cody Prusha) Speck, LeGrand, Jacob Speck, Garwin, Liam Stoakes, Clutier, Gabriel and Chloe Gardenier,West Liberty, IA, and Lauryn and Katelyn Podhajsky, Janesville,; a close daughter of her sister, Kathy Cocayne, Dorr, Mich.; and many other nieces and nephews.
