TAMA NEWS-HERALD - The next meeting of the Tama County Historical and Genealogical Society will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Museum in Toledo. The public also is invited to hear about "Famous Iowans" from Mike Chapman of Newton .

Chapman is a native of Waterloo and was a newspaperman for 35 years, retiring in 2002 as publisher of the Newton Daily News. His other top jobs were sports editor of The Cedar Rapids Gazette and executive editor of The Telegraph in Dixon, Ill., the hometown of Ronald Reagan.

He has written 22 books, has produced three documentaries and currently has two movie screenplays in Hollywood. One screenplay, "Lowell Park", is based on his historical novel about Ronald Reagan as a lifeguard in the summer of 1932 and is set to begin filming later this summer.
