Conference competition for the boys are held in varsity cross country, wrestling, basketball, golf, tennis, track and baseball.
The girls competition involves varsity cross country, basketball, golf, track, tennis, softball and volleyball.
The NICL conference holds competitions in speech and art as well as Band and Vocal festivals.
In addition to athletic competition in the North Iowa Cedar League, South Tama also competes in district football, which involves Benton, Clear Creek-Amana, Mt. Vernon, Solon, Washington, Grinnell, Williamsburg, Vinton and Saydel.
