Arnold was born April 11, 1939, on a farm north of Toledo, the son of Henry C. and Verna M. (Frederick) Arp Jr.
He attended rural schools before the family moved to Tama in 1955.
In July of 1960, Arnold married Doris E. Witt. They later divorced. In February of 1967, he married Carol I. Snook. They had two children before later divorcing.
Throughout his life, Arnold had owned a service station, a nursing home and a welding business. He also worked as a body man, mechanic, foundry worker and a baker. He served as a Police officer from 1975-1981 in Tama and Belle Plaine. He always enjoyed his work no matter how many hours were involved. Upon his retirement, Arnold loved fishing, reading Louis L’Amour and Clive Cussler books, tinkering in the garage, gardening, going for Sunday drives touring the country side, spending time with family and listening to his records.
Preceding Arnold in eternal rest were his parents; and three brothers, John M., Peter S. and Marcus M. Arp; and a nephew, Stevan Bolls.
Left to cherish his memory is his children, Arnie Jr. and Ginger Lee Arp both of Tama; a sister Nina Phillips of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and his puppy dog, Axel. Also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and many friends, especially long time childhood friend, Rosemary Benda of Tama.
A memorial fund has been established.
