TOLEDO CHRONICLE -Joanna Hofer, director of finance and operations, told South Tama School Board members the USDA has released information regarding the Equity in School Lunch Pricing Provision of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. Her report came at the June 20 board meeting. This provision requires a school lunch program must provide the same level of support for lunches served to students who are not eligible for free or reduced meals. The following prices were approved and were reported to still be well within the range of neighboring districts: •K-12 breakfast, increase 10 cents from 80 cents to 90 cents •adult breakfast, increase 15 cents from $1 to $1.15 •Elementary Lunch, increase 15 cents from $1.50 to $1.65 •Secondary Lunch, increase 15 cents from $1.60 to $1.75 •extra milk increase 5 cents from 25 cents to 30 cents Hofer also reminded board members that student textbook fees have been the same amount since at least the 2004-2005 school year. Fees for band and choir uniforms as well as instrument rentals are allowable by statute and will make a modest contribution to the cost of South Tama’s music program. The increased fees will be: •elementary text books $14 increase from $16 to $30 •secondary text books $16 increase from $24 to $40 •band Instrument Rental $25 increase from no charge to $25 •choir robe cleaning $20 increase from no charge to $20 •color guard cleaning $20 increase from no charge to $20 Activity ticket prices have been the same amount since at least the 2004-2005 school year. Student Activity Tickets will have a $20 increase from $25 to $45. Adult activity tickets will increase $30 from $70 to $100 -/unlimited (no punches). Blue cards for seniors are still available.
