Norma Kay Gaydos

Norma Kay Gaydos, 58, of Grandview Heights Nursing Facility in Marshalltown, Iowa passed away Friday, July 1, 2011, at 9:45 p.m. at Grandview after an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St Henry’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown, with Father Don Czapla officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in St Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama. Memorials may be directed to the family. Mitchell Family funeral Home is caring for Norma and her family.

Norma was born in Manhattan, Kan., on July 26, 1952, to the late Anthony Bernard and Norma Rae (Drumm) Gaydos. Kay was a gold medalist in the Special Olympics in the girls standing long jump. She was a member of St Henry’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown.

Norma is survived by a sister: Annette (Jeff) Lanning, Melbourne, Iowa, three brothers; Anthony(Lorie) Gaydos, Vanceburg , Ky., Francis (Bambi) Gaydos, McCalla, Ala. and Michael J. Gaydos, Vanceburg, Ky., four nieces; Megan Rae Lanning, Melbourne, Amanda (Greg) Clark ,Vanceburg, Ky. and Ashley Herink and Madison Gaydos both of McCalla, Ala. six nephews; Drew Gaydos, Vanceburg, Ky., Derek and Kyle Gaydos both of Toledo, Nicholas Lanning, Melbourne, Taylor Gaydos, McCalla, Ala. and Austin McClenathan of Blue Eye, Mo. and a great- nephew Tyde Herink, McCalla, Ala.
