TOLEDO CHRONICLE - Since last year’s Clutier Fun Day the committee has been busy making plans for the 2011 celebration which will be held August 5 and 6. We have been talking about what worked well, what didn’t, and how we can change some things.
The first change the committee made was to pass a resolution changing the name of the event.
The celebration will no longer be called Clutier Fun Day. Going forward, the name of the event will be the Bohemian Plum Festival. Bohemian plums are the trees found in fence rows, ditches and back yards that bear small blue plums in the fall. They are probably better known for the beautiful and showy white flowers that cover the trees in the spring. The name of the committee will still be the Fun Day committee; only the name of the event has changed.
The committee is keeping the basic components of the weekend but slightly modifying the schedule and adding new things. You can expect to see the parade, the cruise, the band, and the downtown activities as usual, plus new activities. As the schedule is firmed up we will put articles in the paper.
The summer band concerts started on Saturday, June 18. Polka Prost will be playing on Main Street from 7 - 9 p.m. The Fun Day Committee will be serving grilled pork loin sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, pop and kolaches starting at 5:30pm. Bring your lawn chairs and join the fun.
There will be another concert in July and on Aug. 5. Barefoot Becky will be playing and on Aug. 6 the band will be Milk and Honey.
Committee members hope to see our old friends at these events and welcome new faces.
