Glenn Allen Kaloupek

Glenn Allen Kaloupek, 93, Elberon, died June 6, 2011, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center following a short illness. Funeral services will held on Friday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the Elberon United Methodist Church with Pastor Norman Bennett officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Vining, with military rites by James R. Kalina American Legion Post 226, Elberon. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time at the church. Kaloupek was born on Oct. 17, 1917, at the Shafer farm in York Township, Tama County to Joseph and Mary (Ulch) Kaloupek. He graduated from Elberon High School in 1935. He married Betty Jean McNall on May 15, 1950 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He was the owner and operator Kaloupek's Garage in Elberon. He was a member of Elberon American Legion Post 226 and the Elberon Volunteer Fire Department of which he served as chief for several years. Glenn was among a group of community members who, in the 1950s, built log cabins in the timber west of town for use by the local Boy Scout Troop. Survivors include children Danny Kaloupek, Auburndale, Mass. and Jamie Kaloupek, Elberon; sisters-in-law, Bess Kaloupek, Elberon, and Jan McNall, Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters-in-law Dee Ann Kaloupek, Elberon and Debbie Franko, Auburndale, Mass; and grandchildren Benjamin, Erica, Nicole and Emma Kaloupek, who will be honorary pallbearers. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2004; mother, Mary in 1918 and father, Joseph in 1945 ; and brother, Ronald in 1995.
