Deb Peska, center director, says nearly 40 adults have already signed up. Shirley Franklin, Tama, has been chosen as the Grand Marshal for the event this year. They’ll be joined this year by representatives from Carrington Place at Toledo and students from South Tama and the Iowa Juvenile Home students in the Age Strong! Live Long Walk On! event.
The walk is held to promote and increase awareness about physical activities for older Iowans. The route is along the South Tama Recreation Trail from the Civic Center complex to a point one-half mile west and back.
All ages are invited to participate and the event is free of charge.You may obtain a registration form at the Toledo Healthy Lifestyles Center, 102 S. Church St., or register on May 26 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Tama Civic Center.
A short program will be presented from 9:30-9:45 a.m. Informational booths will be provided by a number of agencies. The walk begins at 10 a.m.
