Lowe also presented the health care plan to take effect in 2013, explaining the ways this will affect self-insured plans.
In other business:
Lyle Brehm, county engineer presented his road report for the week. Brehm said a lot of rock is being hauled at the present time, mostly for the dust control locations. Work is also being done to clean ditches in various locations.
The Bridge Crew is still on 290th Street west of T47 replacing the bridge deck.
Taylor Construction continues working on the bridge in Howard Township on H Avenue over Deer Creek. The abutments and piers are now completed.
Bids have been received at the Iowa DOT for bridge work in Indian Village Township, Section 9. The bridge over the Iowa River on C Avenue north of U.S. Highway 30 will have a new and wider deck placed on it. Cramer & Associates gained the lowest bid for the work.
•Two utility permits were approved. Windstream will be doing work in Carlton Township along Highway T47. Grundy County REC will be moving some work to the west side of E44 one-fourth mile from U Avenue south.
•Claims approved for the past week totaled $94,348.
Monday, May 25:
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met Monday, April 25, with Tama County Engineer Lyle Brehm, for a report.
Brehm told supervisors he had received bids for the work on the Quarry Bridge but does not have information yet as to the lowest bid.
The Tama County Road crew are working on the bridge in Howard Township. At the present time they are working on the piers on the north end.
Work on the Dupanda Road (E43) will start in the middle of May. he road will not be closed but will be one lane traffic most of the time.
In other business:
•a utility permit was granted to Grundy County REC for work to be done in Grant township.
•Treasurer Michelle Yuska asked supervisors to abate taxes on a mobile home in the amount of $517. The mobile home has been sold and the new owners will pay taxes starting Dec. 1. Yuska said they had sent several notifications to be former owners but all letters have been returned with no forwarding address.
•The Department of Human Services has requested a tax suspension for two places. This is the same as last year- Llana Bennett, 105 West Elm St., Montour, (two parcels) and Penny Mathes, 504 Hall St., Tama. On tax suspensions, the taxes will be collected at the time the property changes hands.
•The Tama County Recorder and the Tama County Sheriff’s quarterly reports were both approved. The recorder’s report showed $30,010 remitted to the Treasurer of Tama County. The sheriff’s report shows receipts of $136,313 and disbursements of $134,535, leaving a balance on hand of $14,087.
•Todd Rickert (TamaCounty CPC) told supervisors there would be a two percent increase for CDC services for the next fiscal year. This is the Iowa Valley rate.
Claims paid totaled 271,924.
