By Joyce Wiese, News Correspondent
TAMA NEWS-HERALD - AlertNow, a parent and staff notification - communication software was approved for purchase by the STC School Board during its April 21 special meeting.

South Tama will install the software which will allow the district to send text messages, email and make phone calls to all parents, guardians and staff within a 10-15 minute time period.

It was not announced when the new system would be operational.

The administrative team and the School Improvement Advisory Committee were in agreement this would be an asset to the district for emergency and non-emergency forms of communication.

The purchase and implementation directly aligns with two of the current board goals by increasing the use of technology and improving communications. The contract is for $2.35 per student for three years and is based on an estimated enrollment.

The contract is for $3760 annually. This software will allow emergency messages to all school personnel, parents, etc. withing a fifteen minute period. If it is an emergency the caller ID will register 411.
