Ground breaking for Wieting restoration is set for Saturday

TOLEDO CHRONICLE -This short article is to give all the friends of the Wieting an update on the restoration project.

The bids were opened on Thursday, April 14 (2011). Overall, the bids came in under estimate, but the building committee has added some unforeseen items to the project.

The total cost is $1,220,144. We still need to raise about $143,000 to complete the entire project and to have a balance on hand in the foundation account to maintain and operate the theatre.

We were able to accept the low bids from all local sub-contractors and this helps keep our business at home.

We need to thank so many people and we will have a short ground breaking ceremony at the Wieting Theatre on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10 a.m.

There will be about 296 seats in the restored theatre. These are being sold with naming rights for $375 per seat. To date, we have sold 256 seats and they are selling fast at this time.
